History

Since 2004, as part of Lymm Festival, Lymm has been invaded every June/July by a host of weird and wonderful Scarecrows. The Scarecrows are displayed in gardens or windows across the district and every year, a trail map is produced marking out all the locations that you can see them. Visitors and residents of Lymm can visit the Scarecrows, guess who or what they represent and vote for their favourites. The winners are awarded prizes at an event at the end of the Festival. Themes over the years have included Nursery Rhymes, Garden Gnomes and Fictional Book Characters. You can view photos of last year's scarecrows at the Lymm Festival 2010 archive here. This year, the competition is being organised by Lymm Ladies Circle and the theme is Kids TV. The competition has been kindly sponsored by Harrisons of Lymm.

The Scarecrow Trail Map

This year, we have produced a virtual map of the Scarecrow Trail in Google Maps, which you can print at home and take with you when looking for the Scarecrows. If you can't find a scarecrow, try again another time - it may come back!

Once you have found the scarecrows, you can come back to the website to vote for your favourite and complete the quiz. The clues should help you identify which character each Scarecrow represents.

You can also pick up a paper copy of the trail map from the Festival Box Office; our sponsors, Harrisons of Lymm and Rushgreen Garage for £1. All profits raised from the competition will go to Lymm Festival & Local Charities.
